Zlatan plays down barren run
08 Feb 2010 - 14:01:32
Barcelona summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not too worried about having failed to find the net in his last five league games for the Spanish and European champions.
The 28-year-old Sweden international has scored 11 times in La Liga since his summer arrival from Internazionale, but his last strike came from the penalty spot in the 1-0 derby win over Espanyol in mid-December.
Ibrahimovic told El Periodico de Catalunya: "I'm not worried, this has happened to me other times. In my first year at Ajax I started very well, then things went bad, then well again - a rollercoaster.
"It's normal, because you have to adapt to many things and in very little time. The same thing happened when I arrived at Juventus and at Inter, a season with ups and downs.
"Obviously, being the number nine and a centre-forward in a team like Barcelona, it's important to score goals, but that's not everything.
"I'm not worried about this poor run because the goals will end up coming. If you play well, you help the team. If you create chances, you score."
