While Raul may still be the top-goalscorer in Champions League history, we felt Messi was deserving of top spot in the countdown.

At just 24 years of age, the Barcelona superstar already has 54 goals in the competition.

Having added five more to his tally last night, he needs just another 17 goals to match Raul.

He made his first Champions League appearance in the 2004-05 campaign, scoring his first goal in the following season.

The Argentine forward is currently enjoying his best goalscoring season so far, having already won the competition three times, he could add to his goal tally and trophy collection this season.
