Three things we learned from Barcelona's El Clasico master class

On Saturday, Spanish football staged it's most famous and iconic show, El Clasico. Two of the countries biggest rivals head to head in a mouthwatering showdown.

Pre game build centred around both clubs most important players; Ronaldo would be looking to cap a momentous month in which he made his debut on the big screen, and Messi was battling to be fully fit for the entirety of the match.

As it happened neither of these players made much of a difference to the end result, and Neymar and Suarez destroyed Madrid and carried the weight of Barcelona's expectation with ease just as the have done in Messi's absence.

Iniesta added to Real's misery with a devastating finish and was given a standing ovation from a number of Madridsta's in the crowd, which more or less sums up just how dominant and awe-inspiring the Catalan side had been.

Below are three main points to take from the game, Madrid fans may wish to stop reading on at this point...

1. Even without Messi, Barcelona are still out of this world.

When it was announced the number 10 would miss two months out through injury, the rest of La Liga (and Europe) breathed a sigh of relief, possibly thinking they'd have a chance to take advantage of the situation and put the Champions League holders down for a while (much like Chelsea have been experiencing in the Premier League), but how wrong they might have been.

Neymar and Suarez, who appear to possibly have a telepathic connection, decided they would steal the spotlight and have since struck down any side that hoped they would get an easier ride without Messi.

Once again in the derby the partnership proved deadly and the Real defence were left dazed and confused by the sheer brilliance of the attackers.

Messi was brought on for what felt like a cameo appearance. With him back, Luis Enrique can stick the kettle on and enjoy having quite possibly the most secure and entertaining job in the world. For Barca's opponents, well maybe it's not worth thinking about...

2. Benitez's out... Ancelotti back in?

Rafa Benitez hasn't exactly set the Bernabéu alight since his arrival and this result will obviously do him no favours, but has he handed his doubters the shovel himself?

Prior to the game many were wondering whether or not Benzema would start ahead of Jese, not will deny the Frenchman has the ability to hurt Barca however wether his mental state and sharp fitness would interfere with that ability would be a different matter. Nobody needn't have worried as he might as well have been made water boy for the night, as should most if not all of the home side, with Enrique's men running rampant and leaving their opponts in wake.

Should Benitez have left Benzema on the bench? Should James have been played on the right of midfield? Should he have worn a nicer suit so that dodge as much negativity? All questions that are now redundant as he could be worn a brightly coloured mankini and still Barcelona would left everyone would pondering what to do next with their lives!

3. Xavi may have left but Barca still have Iniesta.

Aside from Neymar and Suarez taking the plaudits, there was the small matter of the ever respected Andrés iniesta making Real look utterly stupid with a goal to be proud of with a performance to match. Oh and getting clapped off the pitch by Madridsta's, doesn't get much better than that... Does it?

With things going the way they are for Barcelona and now with the talismanic Messi back in the ranks, maybe it's time the world of football just gave up and surrendered until Luis Enrique's men get tired of winning, just a thought...
