The annual Ballon d’Or award provides the world with an honour voted for by football peers and awarded to the person with the most votes to answer the simple question ‘who is the best player in the world’. That’s it. End of discussion. Move on, right? Well, it’s not that simple when you have Messi and Ronaldo around at the same time.
So to clear things up and despite the clear bias it is interesting to hear what the Barca forward has to say about Lionel Messi and Ronaldo having player with and against both players in his short time in La Liga.
Speaking to Le Buteur, a football magazine he said:
“Messi is natural, it is his character. He is the best in the world, but he was born with his qualities,
“Ronaldo has progressed and worked a lot to perform how he does. He’s not at the same level he was when he started.
“I think Leo is the best.”
