A Spanish radio station has offered 200,000 euros ($270,000) to Barcelona in compensation for a report that made false allegations about doping, the broadcaster said.
Barcelona are suing Cadena COPE radio over a broadcast on March 13, 2011, which reported comments falsely attributed to the club's rivals Real Madrid casting doubt on the integrity of Barca's doctors.
"The information cited turned out not to be true and came from an unchecked source. We therefore recognise that an affront to the honour of the club occurred," COPE said in a statement released late on Monday.
The station "in the next 48 hours will allocate 200,000 euros for the value of the harm and damages caused," it added.
The club made no immediate public response to the offer. In their suit against COPE, they have demanded more than six million euros in damages.
In November, Spain's supreme court ordered the French newspaper Le Monde to pay 15,000 euros to Barcelona for a report that drew links between the club and Eufemanio Fuentes, a doctor involved in a doping scandal.
