Puyol: Barca exit not an option

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol says that there was never any chance of him leaving the Camp Nou, the defender having signed a new contract running until the summer of 2013.

Doubts had started to surface about the 31-year-old Spain international's future with Barca, with his current deal set to run out next summer.

However, Puyol told Sport: "I look forward to being here for many years.

"It was very clear that this season I would be here and I wanted to enjoy it - I asked for time to think about if I could try something else.

"But it's easy to stay here, especially for the fans. Nobody else gives me what I can get from Barcelona."
