Paco Alcacer Relishing Opportunity To Play Alongside Barcelona Stars

New Barcelona signing Paco Alcacer expects his footballing education to rocket to another level by training and playing alongside the "best striker in the world" Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp.

Alcacer was presented by Barca on Thursday after joining the Spanish champions in a £27.3million move from Valencia just before the transfer deadline, and he admits it was an opportunity he could not turn down.

One thing the 23-year-old Spain international is especially looking forward to is learning from the likes of fellow forwards Lionel Messi, Neymar and, most specifically, Uruguay international Suarez - a player Alcacer revealed he has studied from afar in recent years.

He said: "Joining Barca is a step forward in my career. You cannot let a chance like this pass you by.

"I've come to the best club in the world. It's a privilege for me, I will give it everything I've got and will try to score goals, which is what's expected of a striker.

"Here there are the best players in the world, to be alongside Luis, Leo and Neymar will help me learn a lot and the first impressions have been very good."

He added of Suarez: "In the last two years I've focused on him a lot. On his movement, his goals and his ability to pester defences.

"If you have these three things, it's very important. Luis is the best striker in the world and by his side I'm going to improve a lot."

With Messi having picked up a groin injury on international duty with Argentina and Brazil's Neymar only having returned to club training on Thursday following his involvement at the Olympics, Alcacer could be in line for his Barca debut against Alaves this weekend.

The former Getafe loanee, who netted 13 goals in LaLiga for Valencia last season and was Spain's leading scorer in qualifying for Euro 2016, says he is ready to slot in straight away if coach Luis Enrique gives him the opportunity.

He said: "Training with players of this quality is easy. I have to give thanks for the way they've welcomed me and if the coach decides to play me then I'm ready. Here you have to be ready for everything.

"My role is what the coach wants. The season is long and anything can happen. Every player who comes here contributes their bit and I want to be one of them."
