Neymar says nothing illegal in Barca contract
Barcelona striker Neymar insisted Wednesday there was "nothing illegal" in his contract with the club, as the Catalans face being sued for alleged misappropriation in his 57-million-euro ($78 million) signing last year.
A Spanish prosecutor has demanded the courts formally investigate the allegations of misappropriation brought by a member of the fan-owned club.
The plaintiff accuses the club's president Sandro Rosell of misappropriation of 40 million euros out of the total fee paid for Neymar.
"My father was the one who signed the contracts and he is obviously a person I trust totally. There is nothing illegal," the Brazilian player, 21, was quoted as saying by Barcelona daily Sport.
"In any case if anyone has any doubts they can ask my father, because I concentrate on my role, which is playing football."
Barcelona say they paid a total of 57 million euros to sign Neymar Da Silva Santos Junior from Brazilian club Santos in June last year, but they have declined to give full details, citing a need for confidentiality.
A judge last month ordered the club to show him the contracts and is due to decide whether to open a formal investigation into the allegations.
The complaint accuses Rosell of misappropriation of funds because members do not know the "real destination" of 40 million euros supposedly paid to Neymar family business N&N, according to court documents.
