McCulloch: Sevilla are Real deal

Published: 28 Sep 2009 - 11:21:00

Lee McCulloch has urged his Rangers team-mates to treat Tuesday night's Champions League clash with Sevilla just like a game against Barcelona or Real Madrid. Versatile midfielder McCulloch believes Manolo Jimenez's men are not often given the credit they deserve and are wrongly overlooked in favour of the giants of Spanish football. "It will be a tough game on Tuesday night and everyone seems to be underestimating them," said McCulloch. "You've got Real Madrid and Barcelona but I don't think they are far behind to tell you the truth, I think they are right up there." Rangers go into the game on the back of a hat-trick of goalless draws in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, the latest against Aberdeen on Saturday. The Dons went some way towards atoning for their shock Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat at Dundee and midfielder Mark Kerr revealed the inspiration behind their performance at Ibrox. Travelling fans displayed a banner demanding 'Fight for these colours' and Kerr said: "I saw it when we came out - you couldn't miss it. "How else are they going to get their point across? I think it did inspire us. When you see that you want to go out there and show them you are a decent team."
