Mascherano wants Barcelona titles

New Barcelona signing Javier Mascherano has admitted he is desperate to win honours at the Camp Nou.

The Argentina captain signed for the Spanish champions in a £17million deal on Monday to bring to an end a four-year spell without winning a trophy in English football with first West Ham United and then Liverpool.

Mascherano won the Argentinian and Brazilian leagues during the early days of his career with River Plate and Corinthians.

"I've been unlucky in that I haven't won anything in Europe and I would not want to say at the end of my career that I have won nothing," he told Barca TV.

"I'm at the ideal club to win titles. At the very least we will fight to win.

"The team is not tired of winning and in every game they want to continue demonstrating that they are the best.

"It is the dream of a lifetime to get to a club like this. I will seize this opportunity and try to stay here as long as possible."
