Luis Enrique and Barcelona turn attention to Paris St Germain second leg

Luis Enrique could not have envisaged a better week for Barcelona as they turn their attention towards attempting to overturn a 4-0 first-leg deficit in Wednesday's Champions League last-16 return encounter against Paris St Germain.

The goals have flown freely at the Nou Camp in the last few days, with Barca following up a midweek 6-1 thrashing over Sporting Gijon, after which Enrique said he would step down from his role as head coach at the end of the season, with a 5-0 rout of Celta Vigo on Saturday evening.

The Catalan giants returned to the top of LaLiga following a vintage display in which Lionel Messi netted in either half while Neymar, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti were also on the scoresheet.

PSG are likely to provide stiffer opposition, having humiliated Barca in their Parc des Princes backyard to put one foot in the quarter-finals only two-and-a-half weeks ago, but Enrique's resolve is strengthened by his side's recent showings.

He said in quotes on the club's official website: "It was one of our best games of the season and the best of the last two months. And it came at the best time, with the end of the season approaching. This game was a huge boost for us.

"I couldn't have scripted two better games for the build-up to PSG. Not just because of the goals but because of how we got them. This is the best we have ever played against Celta, a team that has always made things difficult for us.

"Against PSG we will have the chance to get back into the tie, and we'll keep going until the very last breath.

"We know that the fans will be behind us, and we have reason to believe. We'll try to create the kind of atmosphere where the supporters can help us more than usual.

"Our challenge is to show that we can be better than PSG. It will be difficult, but I have indestructible faith that we can play great and get right back into contention."

Neymar, who bagged Barca's second on Saturday with a sublime chipped finish, echoed his manager's sentiments.

"Against PSG we will run and fight and then we will see what happens," the Brazilian said. "It's really important that our spirit is on the way up and our confidence too.

"We will go out to play football and be happy on the field, that is the Barca philosophy."

The forward also paid tribute to Enrique, whose decision to step down after what will be three seasons at the helm - citing the need to rest - was met with surprise by some in the Barca ranks.

Neymar added: "It's sad because he is someone we have a lot of affection for. We have been with him for three seasons and we have a lot of faith in him. We wish him the best in life."
