Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hit out at deadly rivals Real Madrid for paying such a huge fee to secure the services of AC Milan's Brazilian ace Kaka.
The 27-year-old forward has moved to the Bernabeu in a deal reported to be worth around 68million euros, or nearly £59million.
That sum easily surpasses the previous £46.7million mark which Real paid Juventus of Zinedine Zidane eight years ago.
Laporta told Marca: "To pay this amount of money is exorbitant. It is not adjusted to the reality of the market and it actually distorts it.
"It is also an opportunity to show that the market is at different levels. To pay this sort of figure is outside of the norm."
