Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the Spanish champions are close to agreeing a deal for Valencia striker David Villa, while they are also likely to make a bid for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.
Spain star Villa appears to be close to agreeing a switch to the Camp Nou, with a deal set to be finalised before the World Cup finals get underway in South Africa in just under a month's time.
Laporta told the club's official website: "We are in the negotiating process and everything is going in the right direction. We hope it is resolved soon.
"Everything is on track and hopefully we can reach an agreement. We have set a specific date and will do what is best for the club."
Of an interest in bringing former Barca youth player Fabregas back to the club from Arsenal, Laporta added: "If the technical secretary (Txiki Begiristain) believes we must make an effort, we will do and will talk to Arsenal."
