Iniesta's Final fears subside
11 May 2009 - 12:57:02
Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is confident that he will have recovered from a thigh injury in time to play in the Champions League Final against Manchester United on May 27.
Iniesta tore a thigh muscle during Barcelona's 3-3 draw with Villarreal on Sunday but insists it is only a minor injury.
He said: "It is a small tear that wasn't as bad as we thought.
"I will be in Rome. The enthusiasm I have to play in the Final will help my recovery."
Barcelona will definitely be without suspended defenders Eric Abidal and Daniel Alves for the game, which takes place in just over two weeks' time, while Rafael Marquez is also ruled out after recently having knee surgery.
Thierry Henry is also struggling to be fit for the game after twisting his knee during the 6-2 win at Real Madrid earlier this month.
A statement on Barcelona's official website said of Henry: "His presence is more than doubtful going into the match in Rome.
"His participation there in the Final is not guaranteed."
