Iniesta pens Barca extension

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has penned a contract extension to keep him at the Camp Nou until the summer of 2015.

The 25-year-old Spain international has been with Barca since he was 12 and is hopeful of being able to see out the rest of his career with the Catalan giants.

He told the club's official website: "It is a very special day. I want to thank the president, the board and Txiki Begiristain for continuing to have faith in me. It is step further towards my dream, which is to retire here.

"I'd like to end my career and look back at everything I have won, that's what makes us happy. I'll have to fight for that."

Barca president, Joan Laporta, added: "On the one hand Andres has shown that he is one of the best players in the world.

"On the other, because he sets an example for the younger members of the squad, Andres is the perfect example of the merits of La Masia, Barca's youth football scheme."
