Iniesta calls for Eto'o honour
07 Aug 2009 - 07:07:48
Barcelona star Andres Iniesta claims former team-mate Samuel Eto'o should have a statute erected in the city in his honour.
Eto'o has left the Catalan giants in a swap deal involving Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer.
But after winning two Champions League and three La Liga titles with Barca during a six-year stay, Iniesta believes the Cameroonian should be honoured in grand style.
"Samuel must be remembered for the player that he was. History shows that this club has had very few strikers like him," said the Spain international.
"I do not know if there has ever been anyone like him before. What I do know is that Barcelona should erect a stature for him.
"Samuel was a fundamental player here in recent years and was key to all of the titles that the team won."
