Guardiola pleased with Messi

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he was relieved to see talisman Lionel Messi come through their 5-2 friendly win over a K-League select side with no ill-effects. The Argentina international needed just 17 minutes at the end of the first half to score two goals in the victory in South Korea after sponsors called for his introduction and they weren't disappointed with what they saw. Guardiola said: "We know what Messi represents (to the football world) and, after speaking to the organisers, we decided that ten to 15 minutes was fine, but we told him not to overdo it because he hasn't trained sufficiently. "I have to think of my players and, after just one training session, he couldn't have played more than he did."
