Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola believes the call-ups of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets to the Spain squad highlights the strength of the club's youth system.

Both players have progressed through the ranks - Pique via a stint at Manchester United - and have been included in Vicente del Bosque's squad to face England in a friendly on Wednesday.

The Barca first team is full of graduates from the youth system with the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol all key players in Guardiola's side.

"Both of them (Pique and Busquets) have been doing very well and their presence in the national team brings a lot of merit to Barca, the players themselves and to the coach," he said.

"All their hard work is paying off and this is proof that the Barca cantera (youth academy) have a lot of talent and the system works."
