Coach Pep Guardiola has urged Barcelona to make the most of a "historic opportunity" and win a first ever back-to-back La Liga and Champions League double.

Wednesday's 3-0 victory at home to Deportivo La Coruna kept the Catalan club on course for another domestic title as they are now six points clear of Real Madrid.

In Europe, they are bidding to become the first team in the Champions League era to successfully defend their crown when they face Internazionale in a semi-final showdown next week.

"There is not much of the season left and desire will take us where we want to go - we have historic opportunities which won't come back so we have to grab them," said Guardiola.

"We are in better shape than at the end of last season and that is a good sign.

"The team has great mental strength and (Real) Madrid will oblige us to be switched on all the way."
