Guardiola agrees Barca stay

Head coach Pep Guardiola has put an end to speculation about his future by confirming that he has agreed a new Barcelona contract that he will sign in the summer.

The 39-year-old's current Camp Nou deal is due to expire at the end of this season, prompting speculation that he was being lined up by Manchester United to be Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Old Trafford.

Guardiola's agent, Jose Maria Orobit, had claimed to have had contact with six clubs, but it now seems that the manager will remain with the club until at least the end of next season.

Guardiola will not sign the deal until the summer when Barca's new president is voted in.

Joan Laporta has reached the end of his term and elections are expected to be held at the end of the season, with former vice-president Sandro Rosell the favourite to land the role.

Guardiola only took over as Barcelona manager at the end of last season, but the year could not have gone any better for him as he guided the club to an incredible six trophies.
