Guardiola urges Barca to pull socks up

Coach Pep Guardiola on Saturday urged his Barcelona side to pull their socks up and bounce back from last week's draw with Espanyol or risk handing Real Madrid the Liga title.

Real currently lead the table by five points after Barca's faux pas and Guardiola told reporters: "If we don't react we will lose the league crown. With a rival such as Real Madrid, if we let more points slip, we won't make up the gap."

But the European champions' coach added: "There are still 63 points to play for and we want to think we still have a chance of winning the title."

The Catalan club take on Real Betis on Sunday but also have an eye on a Spanish Cup quarter-final encounter with age-old rivals Madrid on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Guardiola, meanwhile, paid tribute to midfield linchpin Sergio Busquets, saying: "If I were to be reincarnated as a player, I would like to be Busquets."

Busquets is due to make his 100th league appearance on Sunday against Betis and Guardiola said: "I share the view of (Spain coach) Vicente del Bosque that he is the best midfielder in the world."
