English clubs on Thiago alert

Barcelona starlet Thiago Alcantara is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, according to his representative.

The 18-year-old Italian-born midfielder is the latest in a long line of impressive youngsters to roll off the academy production line at the Camp Nou.

The Spain Under-19 international is out of contract at the end of June.

"Thiago finishes his deal in June and it is normal that clubs ask about his situation," said father and agent Mazinho.

"Some clubs in England and Spain have called me but the aim of my son is to triumph at Barcelona.

"We have begun talks regarding a new contract and they are progressing very well.

"Thiago is concentrating on his work with Barcelona and he would find it very hard to leave the club."
