Argentina coach Diego Maradona believes Barcelona are currently the best side in Europe.

The former Barca player has recently been on a whirlwind tour of European clubs to watch his overseas stars and believes the Catalan side are head and shoulders above their opposition.

"Barcelona are the best team I have seen in recent times," said Maradona.

"There are squads behind like Manchester United, Inter, Liverpool or even Real Madrid and they are good, but Barcelona have shown they are a little bit better than all of them.

"With the little experience that he (coach Pep Guardiola) has, the work that he has done with that group seems exceptional."
