Del Bosque singles out Pep
03 Mar 2010 - 07:05:33
Vicente del Bosque has suggested that Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola would be an ideal candidate to replace him when he ends his reign as Spain manager.
The ex-Real Madrid coach has been in charge of La Seleccion since 2008 and has no intention of walking away in the near future.
But when questioned about a potential replacement somewhere down the line, del Bosque was quick to single out the name of Guardiola.
The rookie coach and former Spain midfielder led Barcelona to an unprecedented treble of Spanish league, cup and Champions League in his debut season in the Camp Nou hot-seat last season.
"Barcelona have the power of recovery, as they have good habits that can take them where they want to go," he said.
"As for Guardiola as Spain coach? There have been other ex-Barcelona bosses who have took charge of the Seleccion before.
"He would do well, yes."
