Chygrynskiy to stay with Barca

Ukraine defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy is keen to remain with Barcelona and prove himself, following a difficult first season at the Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old centre-back made just 12 appearances last term following his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk, but his brother and agent, Viktor, is convinced that his sibling is staying put.

He told Sport: "The coach is happy with him and my brother is very happy at the club and with the city.

"The first season is never easy and he has worked hard to learn Spanish. He has even made progress with learning Catalan and now he wants to prove himself.

"Nobody at Barca or Shakhtar has contacted us to talk about it a return to Ukraine. If Pep Guardiola remains confident in Dmytro he will not leave Barca."
