Birmingham are set to sign their second Ecuador international in the space of a week after agreeing terms with Barcelona Sporting Club defender Giovanny Espinoza. The 32-year-old centre back will leave the club in his homeland for a price of £375,000 subject to a work permit and the deal is expected to be completed after Ecuador's World Cup Qualifier against Argentina on Wednesday night. Espinoza's international colleague Christian Benitez arrived at St Andrew's last week for a club record fee. Jorge Guerrero, Espinoza's agent, told the Birmingham Mail: "As soon as Birmingham were promoted to the Premier League, we were waiting for the call. "I know that Espinoza is really happy and his family are also very happy to be moving from Ecuador to Birmingham. "He is a great player and is the captain of his club at the moment. He's the best player in their team but the chance to play in the Premier League is a dream for him."
