Barcelona are eyeing up Manchester City youth player Ashley Smith-Brown.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Catalan club has been interested in Smith-Brown since he played for England's U16 against Spain, back in February.

One of the main reason for Barcelona's interest in Smith-Brown is his ability to play anywhere at the back, although naturally a left-back, he can play on the right and as a central defender. He can also take on the duties of a defensive midfielder.

Apart from Spanish giants Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal are also more than willing to sign the young defender.

Barcelona have had their youngsters scooped up by English clubs in the past for example Gerard Pique was at Manchester United for four years before the Catalans re-signed him (during this time he also had a brief spell at Zaragoza), Oriol Romeu signed last summer with Chelsea and most famously Cesc Fabregas joined Arsenal in 2003, eight years later he returned to his home club.
