Barca's display pleases Pep
01 Mar 2010 - 07:36:21
Coach Pep Guardiola believes Barcelona are showing steady signs of improvement after maintaining their lead at the top of the La Liga table with a narrow 2-1 win over Malaga.
Lionel Messi's 84th-minute winner at the Camp Nou on Saturday night kept the Catalan club two points ahead of main rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table.
"The important thing is that we played very well, with excellent possession and control of the ball," explained Guardiola.
"It was one of our better home games. We were far better than our last games. Lately it seemed as though we could lose to any team but today we showed a great level."
Speaking about the return of Brazil full-back Dani Alves from injury, he added: "He is a unique player.
"He always wants to play and gets upset when he can't but he must understand that the human body has a limit. He improved every time he plays. His intensity forces the others to play the same way."
