Barca rule out Robinho swoop

Barcelona have dismissed rumours suggesting they are interested in bringing Manchester City striker Robinho to the Camp Nou.

It was reported that head coach Pep Guardiola was considering a swap deal that would involve Zlatan Ibrahimovic moving to Eastlands, while Brazil international Robinho would head in the opposite direction.

However, sporting vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu told Sport: "We have had several months of looking at players, but none have been preferred by Guardiola to (Barcelona's) youth football players, a decision with which the club is delighted.

"This is not to say that at the close of the market we will not sign anyone if there is a good option.

"But to sign Ibra, they would have to put money on the table, an option City have not managed so far."

Ibrahimovic struggled at Barca last season following his transfer from Inter Milan, which saw Samuel Eto'o move to the San Siro.

However, despite appearing to endure a poor season with the club, the 28-year-old did still manage to find the net 20 times in 40 appearances for Guardiola's team.
