Barca out of title running

Barca out of title running

Barcelona's faint title hopes were finally ended on Saturday evening when they crashed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Deportivo La Coruna.

Bitter rivals Real Madrid can now win the league title should they win and second-placed Villarreal slip up on Sunday.

A poor Barcelona performance at the Municipal de Riazor led to a fifth away defeat of the season for Frank Rijkaard's inconsistent side, who now face a fight to finish second in La Liga.

Second-half goals from Juan Rodriguez and Pablo Amo secured the points for an improving Depor outfit.

In Saturday's only other action, Real Murcia and Sevilla played out a dour goalless draw.

The solitary point apiece dented Sevilla's Champions League qualification hopes and left 19th placed Murcia still deep in relegation danger.
