Barcelona's dreadful domestic form continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Huelva at the Estadio Nuevo Colombino.
The Champions League semi-finalists twice led with Samuel Eto'o on target each time, but Huelva hit back to clinch a valuable point thanks to Marco Ruben's brace.
Huelva moved to within two points of Valencia who slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to fifth-placed Racing Santander.
Ronald Koeman's side slumped to their ninth defeat at the Mestalla and are now in grave danger of being sucked into the relegation dogfight.
After a goalless first period, Gonzalo Colsa gave Racing a 62nd minute lead only for David Villa to equalise four minutes later.
However, Racing were not to be denied and, with six minutes remaining, Mohamed Tchite grabbed the winner.
