Barca deny Mascherano offer

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has denied making a bid for unsettled Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.

The Argentina captain was the subject of several unsuccessful bids from the Spanish champions 12 months ago and has asked to leave Anfield this summer with Internazionale leading the race to sign him.

Barca recently failed to land another midfield target in Arsenal and Spain international Cesc Fabregas which has led to reports of fresh interest in Mascherano.

"There is still nothing with Mascherano, in fact he is a player who does not fit into our season plan," claimed Zubizarreta

"He is a great player but there is nothing."
