Barca close on Chygrynskiy

Barcelona have confirmed their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy, although no deal will be done before the two sides meet in Friday's UEFA Super Cup.

The 22-year-old looks set to move to the Nou Camp after weeks of speculation, in a deal which could earn the Ukrainian outfit 25million euros.

Barca sporting director Txiki Begiristain believes that a deal will be struck for the UEFA Cup winner, but insists nothing will be made official before this weekend's clash between the two European silverware holders.

"It's still not closed and we will leave it until after the final," he told the club's official website.

"I think that it's on the right track and I don't think there will be any problems, but for sporting reasons we will not close anything until after Friday's game.

"Both Pep Guardiola and the club have been keen to sign a centre-back with certain characteristics.

"Chygrynskiy fits this profile. He's dominant in the air and has good distribution. Someone of his profile is very difficult to find in the market and it's a key position for us."
