Alves delighted with return

Barcelona full-back Daniel Alves has expressed his delight at being back on the football pitch after missing over a month with a leg injury.

The Brazil international has had an outstanding season and his presence was warmly welcomed at the weekend when Barca beat Malaga 2-1.

"I felt as if I had not been away," Alves told Sport.

"I am always annoyed when I don't play, even if I'm injured. I like playing football more than anything else, and when I can't do that, I don't like anything."

The 26-year-old downplayed his importance to the team, adding that: "It was just a coincidence that our form dropped while I was away."
