Michael Skibbe is still looking for his first win in charge of Bayer Leverkusen after three games on the sidelines since taking over from Klaus Augenthaler, but the former Germany national team assistant coach is very sure his side will turn the corner in Kaiserslautern on Saturday.
"We missed a hatful of chances against Hamburg and well get those chances again at the weekend. The team should play well and reward themselves."
There were positive signs in the 3-2 defeat to Hamburg in the Cup on Wednesday and Bayer now need to convert their possession into goals to reap the rewards of their hard work. "We look to creatre our chances and it takes a lot of effort while the opponents go looking for the long ball," he said. The responsibility of creating the openings will once again lie with the young midfielders Gonzalo Castro and Tranquillo Barnetta while injuries to Carsten Ramelow and Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker leaves the manager little choice but to go with just three at the back due to a shortage of defenders at the current time.
