Germany national team boss Joachim Low remains hopeful that veteran midfielder Michael Ballack will return to the fold to complete a century of international appearances.
The 34-year-old, who headed home to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, missed the World Cup finals earlier this year due to an ankle problem, while more recently he has been hit with a broken leg.
That has left Ballack currently stuck on 98 caps for Die Mannschaft, with Low hoping that the former Germany captain gets the chance to reach a well-deserved landmark.
He told Bild: "I hope he reaches the 100-cap mark, because Michael has been an ambassador for this country for a long time.
"He doesn't deserve to end his career like this. Michael will fight for his chance, he is not someone who gives up easily."
