Eintracht snap up striker Gekas

Greece international Theofanis Gekas has completed his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee in the region of Euros one million.

The 29-year-old striker has penned a two-year contract with Eintracht who finished tenth in the Bundesliga this season.

Coach Michael Skibbe has said on many occasions recently that he wanted to bolster his strikeforce and has done so with a player that scored six goals in 19 appearances during a loan spell at Hertha Berlin in the second half of the season.

Gekas, who had a brief spell with Portsmouth in the 2008-09 campaign, will probably form a strike partnership with compatriot Ioannis Amanatidis at Eintracht.
