Ayr remained top of the Second Division after a Ryan Stevenson brace completed a deserved victory at Gayfield. The home side were unlucky not to be ahead at the interval after Barry Sellars had two excellent shots saved by Stephen Grindlay. But it was Ayr who went ahead five minutes into the second half when Chris Aitken converted from the penalty spot.
