Ayr cruise to victory

An impressive second-half display from Partick helped them record a 4-0 home win over struggling Ayr in the Irn-Bru Scottish First Division.

Ayr had the opportunity to take the lead after 23 minutes but Mark Roberts' headed Michael Moffat's cross against the upright.

Midfielder David Rowson opened the scoring three minutes after half-time when he struck a low left-footed shot past Ayr goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert.

Paul Cairney doubled the home side's lead after 65 minutes with an impressive right-footed volley from 20 yards before Chris Erskine made it three, eight minutes later with a neat right-footed strike after being put through by Christie Elliot.

Kris Doolan completed the scoring two minutes into added time from the penalty spot after Erskine had been fouled by Ayr defender John Robertson inside the area.
