14 November 2010 00:11
Sons survive late scare Dumbarton held on to secure a rare 3-2 win against 10-man Ayr. The Sons took the lead after 28 minutes when Jonathan Tiffoney was shown a straight red card for bringing Kieran Brannan down in the area and Alan Cook stepped up to smash home from the penalty spot. Patrick Walker doubled the lead after 54 minutes with a close-range finish, but Ayr got themselves back into the match 12 minutes later through Mark Roberts' header from Alan Trouten's cross. Ross Campbell turned home Jon McShane's cross after 84 minutes to restore the two-goal advantage for Dumbarton. The visitors piled forward and pulled a goal back in stoppage time when substitute Andy Rodgers smashed the ball home from Roberts' knock-down, but it was too little, too late.
