New faces for Ayr
Ayr can add new recruits David Robertson and Jordan Preston to their squad for the visit of Airdrie.
Martyn Campbell remains out with a knee injury and Brian Gilmour is suspended.
Peter Murphy could return after a back problem but skipper Scott McLaughlin has joined Clyde and Paul Slane has been released.
Manager Ian McCall said: "We can go above Stenhousemuir with a win and that is a nice incentive to have. We lost at home to Dunfermline last weekend and I cannot fault the boys for effort but the quality we are producing needs to be better.
"Winning this game would give everyone a terrific lift and that is our aim.
Airdrie could have a new face in their line-up with the Diamonds hoping to bring in former Livingston and Cowdenbeath winger Jordan Morton, who has returned from playing in Bulgaria.
Missing for the Diamonds is David Proctor, who has a groin injury.
Manager Gary Bollan is looking for his side to turn draws into wins.
Bollan said: "We have had three draws recently and that has slowed down our progress up the table. We scored twice at Ayr late on to turn a defeat into a win on our last visit and it would be terrific to take the three points back with us from this game."
