Ayr 3-1 Forfar: Match Report

Bannigan brace ends hoodoo Stuart Bannigan's double helped expunge Ayr's recent hoodoo against Forfar as they moved a step closer to securing a coveted play-off spot with a 3-1 win. Twice in the past two-and-a-half weeks, Forfar have beaten Brian Reid's side, but all that was put to rest with an accomplished display from the Ayrshire team. Bannigan neatly converted Andy Rodgers' sharp pass from the centre of the penalty area in the eighth minute and that lead was doubled just five minutes later when Mark Roberts fired home his 24th goal of the season after another assist from Rodgers. Forfar centre-half Michael Bolochoweckyj hauled his team back in to it 15 minutes from time when he nodded home Martyn Fotheringham's devilish inswinging corner from close range. But Bannigan seized upon David Crawford's pass shortly after to fire an angled drive into the bottom corner from inside the penalty box and seal the three points.
