Ayr stunned by Stranraer
Goals from Grant Gallagher and Jamie Longworth sent Ayr to a shock first defeat of the season as they went down 2-0 at home to Stranraer.
Ayr had enjoyed the better first-half chances but were wasteful in front of goal, with Brian Gilmour, Alan Forrest and Ryan Donnelly all culpable.
They were made to pay in the second half, when Gallagher opened the scoring just after the hour mark with a fine strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
The home team then had a good penalty shout turned down and were left ruing their luck when the lead was doubled 10 minutes from time.
Longworth was set free by Daniel Stoney and he raced around the goalkeeper before coolly slotting home to give Stranraer a first win of the season and subject Ayr to a first loss.
