Emerton - Australia in good shape

Socceroos midfielder Brett Emerton does not believe Australia will struggle physically against Serbia on Wednesday despite being reduced to 10 men in their opening two World Cup matches.

Harry Kewell will serve a one-match ban following his red card against Ghana and Vince Grella (knee) is also unavailable, but Tim Cahill will return after sitting out the draw with Ghana following his dismissal against Germany.

Serbia coach Radomir Antic's main selection poser is how many of his booked players to risk. Defenders Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Vidic, Aleksandar Kolarov and Neven Subotic, midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic and striker Nikola Zigic are all one yellow card away from a suspension.

The Socceroos go into the game needing a win and for either Ghana to beat Germany, or Germany to beat Ghana by a big enough margin for Australia to turn around a five-goal difference on the Africans.

"If we can play a game with 11 men, we will probably feel like we're running on air," joked Emerton.

"I think physically the team's in very good shape, all the boys have worked exceptionally hard coming into this World Cup, so I can't see that being a problem."

Antic believes his side's momentous 1-0 win over Germany will inspire them to greater things.

That result means Serbia will now progress to the second round if they beat Australia.

The veteran former Barcelona and Real Madrid coach said: "It was worth it to come here and beat Germany for the first time in 37 years.

"We are a team with character and are never satisfied with our achievements. The win was more than just three points and will inspire us to aim for greater heights."
