Cahill keen to start

16 Jun 2006 - 11:17:17

Australia midfielder Tim Cahill is hoping his two-goal blast against Japan will force coach Guus Hiddink to use him from the start against Brazil on Sunday.

The Everton star came off the substitute's bench to score a late equaliser against the Japanese before going on to score a second as the Socceroos won their opening Group F game 3-1.

However, he also picked up a yellow card in the game and could face a suspension if he is booked in either of Australia's remaining two group matches.

"I'd take the opportunity to start against Brazil with both hands," Cahill said.

"The Japan game was all about getting through. It was difficult with the weather and you don't know until you try it. But I got through and I'm a fit lad.

"We're not looking forward to Croatia. The biggest thing is to give everything against Brazil."

However Hiddink said: "We had silly yellow cards and that's a bit of criticism from me. I have to think strongly if I can use all the players (who were booked)."
