Falcao to stay at home for Spanish Cup clash

La Liga joint-leaders Atletico Madrid will make the last-16 Spanish Cup trip to third division side Jaen without star striker Falcao as coach Diego Simeone fields a weakened line-up for the first-leg tie.

Simeone will also rest first-team defenders Juanfran, Joao Miranda, Diego Godin and Felipe Luis while he has drafted in reserve team players Oliver Torres, Saul Niguez, Kader and Pedro for Wednesday's clash.

Simeone will hope Atletico don't slip up as they did last term when they were knocked out by third division Albacete in a match that cost then coach Gregorio Manzano his job.

Fringe first-team players Jorge Pulido, Domingo Cisma, Silvio and Cata Diaz have all been retained by the coach as the Europa League and European Super Cup winners look to maintain their run in the competition which was won last season by Barcelona.
