Kevin Gameiro revealed that communication with coach Diego Simeone proved to be a big factor in his move to Atletico Madrid and vowed to "give everything" during his official unveiling on Sunday evening.

Atletico confirmed on Saturday they had agreed a deal with Sevilla for the 29-year-old France striker, who - according to reports in Spain - is set to cost the capital club an initial 32million euros (£27million).

On Sunday, the former Paris St Germain forward, who has signed a reported four-year deal, took to the Vicente Calderon pitch as he was presented in front of the LaLiga club's delighted fans wearing the Atleti colours.

He tweeted: "I want to thank the fans of Atletico. I will give everything.

"Diego Simeone has shown me he really wanted me. I think I can adapt very quickly to the team."

While Gameiro, quoted on www.as.com, said: ''I am very happy to get to a giant club like this.

''I talked by messages and phone to (Atletico coach Diego) Simeone. He told me he loved me and that we will have a great season.

''(Atletico forward Antoine) Griezmann is a fantastic French player and I hope to score many goals together.''

Los Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo also took to Twitter to welcome his club's latest signing, saying: "@Kevingameiro9, the fans and the club will always be there to support you.

"Kevin, I know you had significant offers and I want to thank you for choosing our project.

"I'm sure you will bring much (to the team) from the beginning."

And he told the club's official website: "Kevin Gameiro reinforces a strong group in the best moment of his career after winning three consecutive Europa League (titles) and scoring 29 goals last season."

Gameiro began his career at former Ligue 1 side Strasbourg and went on to enjoy a three-year spell at Lorient, scoring 56 goals in 120 appearances and earning a France debut, before making the move to PSG in 2011.

Three seasons later he made the switch to LaLiga, where he impressed with 67 goals in total for Sevilla - 29 of those coming last term - and helping them win three Europa League trophies before his exploits caught the eye of the 2016 Champions League finalists.
