Angel Correa confident Atletico Madrid will conquer Getafe

Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa is confident his team can record their second home win of the season when Getafe visit the Vicente Calderon stadium.

The Argentinian forward came off the bench to score his first goal for Atletico in Saturday's 2-0 win at Eibar and he then set up Fernando Torres for the team's second to seal the win.

Torres is expected to start with the on-loan Spain forward one goal shy of celebrating his 100th goal for the club.

Saturday's victory was Atletico's third in four games and lifted Diego Simeone's side to fifth place where they sit three points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.

"It was very important for me to score," the 20-year-old Correa said on his club's official website. "The important thing is that my contribution helped Atletico win and now we need to continue on this path.

"We knew it wasn't going to be easy but we battled to get a win."

Atletico will follow up the game with Getafe with an away game on Saturday at Villarreal.

The Rojiblancos then return to Champions League action when they host Benfica on September 30.

"We are not tired," Correa said. "We've prepared really well in pre-season and we are ready for every game.

"We have a great team.

"We know Tuesday's game is going to be difficult. But our hope is to win at home in front of our fans."

Getafe edged Malaga 1-0 on Friday for their first triumph of the season after three straight defeats.

The win allowed the club based in the Madrid-region to climb to 14th place after keeping their first clean sheet of the season.

"We still have a lot of room for improvement but it was important to get our campaign up and running," Getafe coach Fran Escriba said to Spanish sports newspaper AS. "Now we face a big game against a team that is an example to every club.

"Atletico have competed against the best teams and have managed to win (league title 2013-14 campaign).

"They have great players and are hard to play against and difficult to beat.

"They hit like a big club and defend like a smaller outfit.

"Under normal circumstances, they would finish in third place in the standings but they are such good competitors that you can never rule them out in the race for the title."

Atletico will not be at full strength with Spanish midfielder Koke sidelined until next month.

Koke sustained a left thigh injury during Saturday's match at Eibar and will miss Atletico's next three games.
