Athletico Madrid have played down reports suggesting they have already spoken to potential replacements for current coach Javier Aguirre.
The Mexican has come under fire after Atletico have lost pace with the top three on the back of a run of just one win in four league games.
However, the Atletico board are adamant they have not held talks with any possible replacements.
"Athletico Madrid would like to state they has not made contact with any coach with regard to coaching the team next season," read a club statement.
"The reality is that the team, with five weeks left, continues on the path to reach the goal set of finishing in a Champions League place.
"When the league comes to an end, the board of directors and the sporting department will analyse and assess the performance of both the coaching staff and the players, with the intention of taking the necessary decisions to improve the level of the squad for next season."
