Chevanton secures Italy move

Atalanta have agreed a deal to sign Uruguay international striker Ernesto Chevanton on loan from Sevilla in the January transfer window until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at the Sanchez Pizjuan and has made just one appearance as a substitute this season.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido told Europa Press: "The loan move of Chevanton was done at the request of the coaches, who think that he needs to play regularly."

Chevanton himself added that he was desperate for first-team action to ensure that he makes his country's squad for next summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.

He added: "I have an objective and that is to play in the World Cup finals next year with the Uruguay national team and that's why I have said that the transfer to Atalanta is important for me."
